![]() ![]() Finlay is a character and narrator you will fall in love with because of her flaws and tenacity. ![]() She's witty, hilarious, smart, and determined. I don't want to give away much more of the plot because it was fun seeing everything unravel and how Finlay was going to take on the next obstacle. The money is enticing and how hard could it be, right? Well, so begins Finlay's crazy decent into the criminal world and she is quickly realizes it is much different than the fictional situations that authors come up with. One day she is mistaken for a contract killer and is approached with a job. Her ex-husband isn't making things any easier, she hasn't even written her next novel that was promised to her agent, and a whole list of things that come with being a mom. This was as funny as it was suspenseful and I couldn't help but cheer on Finlay as she got more and more entangled in this new criminal world she put herself in.įinlay Donovan is a single mom of two and she's struggling. ![]() Well, this was a breath of fresh air because Finlay Donovan is definitely not a detective and she is in way over her head. I've gotten so used to the gritty thrillers with serial killers and the investigation side of things. Talk about an unexpectedly fun thriller! Picking up FINLAY DONOVAN IS KILLING IT I wasn't quite sure what to expect. ![]() ![]() ![]() There are safe houses where the two can spend time together and the romance can happen. But then there’s no actual progression as to how that goal will be accomplished. ![]() ![]() The plot of the book is that Dylan is in trouble and he’s come to Trav asking for help with safety and, later, with clearing his name. It was the non-romantic plotline that I really had an issue with. It gave their characters and relationship depth, and it was a believable conflict. I also liked the moral conflict because of the different ways in which Trav and Dylan define right and wrong and what lines they’re willing to cross. I didn’t love their relationship because Trav’s inability to be serious when with Dylan went on too long, but I liked it well enough. The two protagonists were good and I liked them. Unfortunately, I have mixed feelings about what I got. And his scenes with DEA Agent Dylan Rodriguez, aka Rogue, were intriguing. He was a tough boss but also an understanding one. We saw plenty of him in the last book and I really liked him. Mike Bravo is a private Black Ops firm and Trav is the boss. ![]() |
